While the rebranded Xiaomi 17 series has sparked considerable debate, much like Apple's products often do, these controversies have done little to dampen the sales momentum of the new releases. Consumers continue to make purchases based on their preferences. Nevertheless, for Xiaomi, the excitement in the smartphone landscape for 2025 is far from reaching its climax. The forthcoming Redmi series models are poised to be the primary catalysts for overall sales, with the K90 series taking center stage. However, Xiaomi's subsidiary brands are not the only players in the game; competitors are not sitting idly by and are also gearing up to launch new products to capture market share. Among these rivals, realme is making a particularly bold move this time around.

Details regarding the core specifications of the previous GT8 Pro have already surfaced. The inclusion of a 200-megapixel periscope telephoto lens undoubtedly sets it apart from other subsidiary models (at least until the end of the year). Its powerful specs are undeniable, but its starting price exceeding 3,500 yuan may still be a stretch for some consumers. In response, realme has unveiled what it claims to be the most robust standard version in its history, and judging by the leaked specs, it certainly lives up to the hype.

When compared to the existing GT 7 standard version, the GT 8 standard version represents a significant leap forward. The phrase 'true. strongest' unmistakably signals its ambition to outshine rivals, including the Redmi K90 standard version. However, achieving this feat is no small task. Based on the leaked information, it appears that the GT 8 shares several key specs with the K90, such as a 2K screen, metal frame, and 3D ultrasonic fingerprint recognition—features already present in the K80. Both models are expected to utilize the Snapdragon 8 Supreme Edition chip, with no substantial differences in their core configurations.

Regarding the large R-angle design, it's almost a foregone conclusion that the K90 will adopt a similar approach. Personally, I believe the GT 8 may hold a slight edge, but it should not be a significant one. For instance, in terms of screen refresh rate, the GT 8 supports up to 144Hz, whereas the K90 is likely to cap at 120Hz. The 4,000-nit local brightness also offers a slight advantage, and the 1-nit ultra-dim eye protection feature is indeed noteworthy. Touch operation has also seen enhancements.

There's another spec that realme has not officially disclosed but can be easily inferred: the battery capacity is likely to reach 8,000mAh. After all, they've already hinted at 10,000mAh and 15,000mAh options. The new model should at least demonstrate some progress; otherwise, it would seem like mere empty promises. In other areas, the standard version's imaging upgrade may not be substantial, or there might be virtually no upgrade at all. In fact, some performance parameters of the GT 7 are already quite impressive. If the GT 8 undergoes significant upgrades, its cost-effectiveness would truly be remarkable.

The leaks also mention an independent display chip. Personally, I believe this will be a competitive edge, and the handfeel should also be excellent, thanks to the metal frame and glass back cover. Based solely on the leaked information, it may not fully surpass expectations, but the leaker has also hinted that there are other surprises yet to be revealed. Users' curiosity has been piqued. Whether it can truly amaze users remains to be seen, but I believe realme will not tarnish its own reputation.

If the GT 8 can maintain its starting price at 2,599 yuan, its appeal will be exceptionally strong.
