Recently, according to an announcement by the National Intellectual Property Administration, Nanchang O-film Optoelectronics Technology Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of O-film, has obtained utility model patent authorization for a 'reflective component, periscope-type camera module, and electronic device.'
This patent addresses the redundancy in the optical path and thickness bottlenecks of traditional periscope modules by proposing an integrated reflective component solution: integrating an light-entering hole, a light-exiting hole, and a side blocking portion into a support base, and directly assembling a first lens at the light-entering hole; the optical effective area of the reflective member is opposite the lens, and its optical ineffective area is trimmed to form a clearance portion. Through a design where the projection overlaps with the support base's bearing area, it effectively compresses the optical path length, significantly reduces the overall thickness of the module while ensuring optical performance, and precisely matches the trend of slimming in consumer electronics.
As the core subsidiary of O-film's optical components, Nanchang O-film Optoelectronics' implementation of this technology further solidifies the group's structural innovation reserves in the mobile optics sector. O-film has long adhered to a research and development-driven approach, with R&D investment reaching RMB 1.566 billion in 2025, accounting for 7.07% of revenue; as of the end of the year, it had accumulated 2,245 valid patent applications and 1,789 authorized patents globally, establishing intellectual property barriers both domestically and internationally.
The industry believes that this patent achievement will provide crucial structural support for balancing high-magnification zoom and ultra-thin bodies in the industry, promoting the wider adoption of periscope-type optical solutions in terminal devices.
