Following its R&D centers in Beijing and Zhuhai, Kingsoft Group has unveiled another substantial R&D hub in Wuhan.
On August 18, the Wuhan Kingsoft Software Park officially opened, with Lei Jun in attendance.
Nestled in the Optics Valley New Area, south of Gaoxin 4th Road and west of Guanggu 4th Road, the Wuhan Kingsoft Software Park borders the Optics Valley Ecological Corridor and adjoins Xiaomi's Wuhan Science and Technology Park to the north. Spanning 118 acres with a total construction area of 280,000 square meters, the park can accommodate up to 9,000 employees working simultaneously. Beyond office space, the park also boasts dining halls, residential buildings, fitness centers, sky gardens, indoor stadiums, and other facilities, seamlessly integrating R&D, living, and leisure.
This state-of-the-art R&D center is one of Kingsoft Group's largest, hosting multiple business units such as Kingsoft Office, Kingsoft World Games, and Kingsoft Cloud, attracting nearly 4,000 R&D professionals.
Wuhan Kingsoft Software Park
Kingsoft Group's presence in Wuhan spans eight years: In December 2017, the company established its Wuhan headquarters in the East Lake High-tech Zone; in December 2020, Kingsoft increased its investment in Wuhan by acquiring land in the same zone to expand its industrial park; and in March 2025, the park officially opened.
Founded in 1988, Kingsoft Software is one of China's pioneering internet software enterprises. After over three decades of growth, the company now primarily focuses on businesses such as Kingsoft Office, Xishanju, Kingsoft World Games, and Kingsoft Cloud. Among these, Kingsoft Office specializes in the design, development, sales, and promotion of WPS Office software products and services; Xishanju and Kingsoft World Games are dedicated to game development and operation; and Kingsoft Cloud provides cloud computing services.
Currently, Kingsoft Group's R&D offices are situated in Beijing, Zhuhai, and Wuhan.
In Beijing, Kingsoft Group is concentrated in the Kingsoft Software Building and Xiaomi Science and Technology Park. In 2009, Kingsoft relocated to the Kingsoft Software Building in Shangdi, where it resided for a decade, successfully undergoing its mobile internet transformation and nurturing two listed companies, Kingsoft Office and Kingsoft Cloud. In 2021, the Kingsoft Software Building underwent a renovation, adopting a new look. Xiaomi Science and Technology Park comprises eight buildings with a total construction area of 340,000 square meters and a cost of 5.2 billion yuan, with Buildings D and E serving as Kingsoft Software's office spaces.

In Zhuhai, the Kingsoft Software Park is located at No. 329, Qiandao Huanlu, in the Zhuhai High-tech Zone. With a total area of approximately 96,800 square meters and a construction area exceeding 225,000 square meters, it is a comprehensive park integrating technology research and development, cultural creativity, information services, and digital arts. Planning for the Kingsoft Zhuhai Software Park began in 2007, with land acquisition in 2008. After the construction of Phases I and II, it took a total of 15 years from planning to completion. In May 2023, Lei Jun announced the full opening of Phases I and II of the Kingsoft Zhuhai Software Park, which is expected to gather over 10,000 talents in the future.

The completion of the Wuhan Kingsoft Software Park also signifies a major milestone in Lei Jun's strategic objective of "building a 10,000-person R&D center for Kingsoft and Xiaomi in Wuhan." In 2023, Lei Jun proposed establishing a 10,000-person R&D center in Wuhan. Currently, Xiaomi and Kingsoft together employ a total of 9,500 people, with an anticipation to reach the 10,000-person mark by the end of this year.
Achieving over 10,000 employees for Xiaomi and Kingsoft within 3-5 years
In addition to Kingsoft, Lei Jun's company Xiaomi has three significant projects in Wuhan: Xiaomi Wuhan Headquarters, Xiaomi Wuhan Science and Technology Park, and Xiaomi Global Smart Home Appliance Factory.
The Xiaomi Wuhan Headquarters building, with a total investment of 340 million yuan and named "Light BOX," can accommodate approximately 2,400 to 3,000 employees. The project began site selection in June 2017 and was officially established in November 2018, showcasing the Optics Valley speed of "completing site selection and land acquisition in one month and structural topping-out in five months." From 2018 to 2024, Xiaomi Wuhan Headquarters has contributed a cumulative revenue of over 110 billion yuan.

The Xiaomi Wuhan Science and Technology Park is located 4.2 kilometers away from Xiaomi Wuhan Headquarters in a straight line, adjacent to Kingsoft Group's Wuhan headquarters, south of Gaoxin 4th Road, and west of Guanggu 4th Road. The Xiaomi Wuhan Science and Technology Park project is constructed in two phases with a total investment of 1.62 billion yuan and a total construction area of about 369,000 square meters, aiming to create a super-large R&D center focused on R&D, industrial parks, and intelligent manufacturing. Phase I of the project commenced in April 2022 with a total construction area of approximately 142,000 square meters, encompassing 3 office buildings with 17 floors, 8 workshops, and supporting structures. Xiaomi's vehicle delivery center, air-conditioning laboratory, and supporting facilities will be housed here for the R&D, production, and manufacturing of Xiaomi's smart hardware products. In December 2024, Xiaomi's major household appliance team moved into Building F of the Xiaomi Wuhan Science and Technology Park.

The Xiaomi Smart Home Appliance Factory is situated on the east side of Zuoling Avenue in the East Lake High-tech Zone of Wuhan. The project spans 751 acres and is anticipated to commence production by the end of 2025, achieving large-scale mass production in 2026. Reports indicate that the factory has a planned capacity of 6 million units, with an initial capacity of 3 million units. Among these, 1 to 1.5 million units are dedicated to air conditioners, approximately 1 million to TVs, and several hundred thousand to air purifiers and washing machines. The Xiaomi Smart Home Appliance Factory marks Xiaomi Group's third smart factory after its automotive super factory and smartphone smart factory, symbolizing the culmination of Xiaomi's "people, vehicle, home" full-ecosystem strategy in large self-built smart factories.
