It's widely acknowledged that vehicles from emerging automotive forces are not budget-friendly, and this perception holds true.
A glance at the prominent new entrants in the automotive industry reveals a lack of affordable options. The majority of their offerings are priced above 200,000 yuan. Be it NIO, Li Auto, XPeng, AITO, or other models, their primary sales are driven by models exceeding the 200,000 yuan mark. Some brands even position their flagship models at 300,000 or 400,000 yuan.
In contrast to the era of traditional gasoline vehicles, where most manufacturers focused on models around the 100,000 yuan price point, these new forces can be likened to the BBA (Benz, BMW, Audi) of the electric vehicle age.
This raises the question: Among these new automotive players, which brand commands the highest average unit price? Recently, an institution compiled a list of the average unit prices for these new forces in August, as depicted in the figure below.
Note that the left side displays the original English version, while the right side presents the translated version, so there may be some inaccuracies in brand name translations. Just take a quick look.
AITO tops the list with an average price of 459,000 yuan, solidifying its position as the undisputed leader among new forces. This marks AITO's consecutive reign at the top, truly living up to its reputation as the premier luxury car among new entrants.
Following AITO is NIO, with an average price of 447,000 yuan, indicating that NIO also positions itself in the premium segment with high prices.
Next in line are Zhijie and Xiangjie. Zhijie, with an average transaction price of 432,000 yuan, has made a strong push into the top three. This is largely attributed to the Zhijie V9, which is priced between 300,000 and 400,000 yuan, significantly boosting Zhijie's average price.
Xiangjie secures the fourth spot with an average price of 370,000 yuan, also making it into the top four. Tengshi takes the fifth position with an average price of 361,000 yuan.
Among the top five brands, the Harmony Intelligent Mobility Alliance accounts for three, demonstrating Huawei's remarkable achievements and outstanding performance in crafting luxury vehicles. Any brand partnering with Huawei is already halfway to becoming a luxury car brand. Huawei's ability to empower its partners is truly impressive.
Ranks six to ten are occupied by Zeekr, VOYAH, Li Auto, Xiaomi, and Avatr, respectively. Xiaomi ranks ninth with an average price of 276,000 yuan, while Leapmotor sits at 16th with a price of 118,000 yuan. It appears that Leapmotor's primary advantage still lies in its affordability; it's significantly cheaper than other cars, which explains its strong sales.
While sales volume reflects popularity, the average transaction price reveals a brand's true value, user purchasing power, and the consumption capacity of car owners. From this perspective, the Harmony Intelligent Mobility Alliance has a truly solid foundation. Except for NIO, which can rival the 'Jie' brands, Xiaomi, Li Auto, and others fall short in comparison.
