Kuaikeji, September 28 - Recent disclosures from various sources suggest that the Huawei Mate 90 Pro Max Collector's Edition is poised to debut an external 'superzoom' camera, dubbed the 'Huawei Ruiying Z10 10x Zoom Module Camera'.

This camera is equipped with a 1-inch sensor and a genuine 10x optical zoom lens, boasting a physical focal length of 9.1-91mm, an aperture range of F2.0-F4.5, equivalent to 24-240mm on a full-frame camera, and supports electronic zoom functionality.

In contrast to previous phone teleconverters that merely added an extra lens, the Ruiying Z10 incorporates its own CMOS, zoom mechanism, and focusing system. It attaches to the native lens ring of the Mate 90 Pro Max Collector's Edition through magnetic connection and contact points.

Patent images pertaining to this innovation have been discovered by some netizens. The patent was filed on February 11, 2026, and made public on September 22.

The patent, titled 'An Electronic System, Adapter Assembly, External Device, and Docking Device,' outlines the mechanical architecture for effortless snap-on assembly and disassembly between the terminal device and the external device, utilizing fasteners, latch components, and drive elements. Once the external device is secured, a slot is created between its second surface and the terminal's housing.

Judging by the patent visuals, the module is relatively large and will completely envelop the DECO area of the phone's rear camera upon installation.

Regarding optical specifications, the Ruiying Z10 showcases a notably expansive entrance pupil diameter within its 1-inch high-magnification zoom module, measuring φ4.55mm at the wide end and extending to φ20.22mm at the telephoto end.

For comparison, the Sony RX100M6/M7 features a 1-inch 9-72mm F2.8-4.5 lens (equivalent to 24-200mm) with a maximum entrance pupil of φ16mm; the Panasonic ZS110 boasts a 1-inch 9.1-91mm F2.8-5.9 lens (equivalent to 24-240mm) with a maximum entrance pupil of φ15.4mm; and the vivo X300 Ultra's 200mm G2 teleconverter has an entrance pupil of approximately 19.8mm, all of which are smaller than the Ruiying Z10's telephoto end.

At present, it remains uncertain whether the Ruiying Z10 includes its own image processor. Blogger 'Camera Notes' speculated that if it does, it would echo Sony's QX series lens cameras, capable of compatibility with a wider range of phones. Conversely, if the image data is processed by the phone's SoC, akin to Xiaomi's prior modular concept camera, the user experience would be enhanced, albeit with more limited compatibility.
