The pinnacle event for humanoid robots, akin to the "Olympics," will commence at the National Speed Skating Oval, affectionately known as the "Ice Ribbon," at 8 PM tonight!
In a grand gathering, 280 teams from five continents and 16 countries have converged in Beijing, bringing with them over 500 humanoid robots from 127 distinguished brands.
Prominent among these are leading domestic universities such as Tsinghua, Peking, and Shanghai Jiao Tong; international contestants hailing from Brazil, Germany, Japan, and beyond; renowned enterprises like Unitree, Legged Robotics, and SONGYAN Robotics; and even several talented middle school teams.
Just days ago, Unitree's announcement of their participation in these games sent social media into a frenzy, underscoring the widespread enthusiasm for this remarkable event.
1. Event-Rich: Comprehensive Coverage of Competition, Performance, and Scenarios
The games encompass a total of 22 main events and 5 peripheral events, amounting to 487 matches, spanning diverse categories including competition, performance, scenarios, and peripherals.
Main Events
The main events are categorized into three segments: athletic competition, performance competition, and scenario competition.
Athletic competition mirrors traditional human sports, including track and field events (100m, 400m, 1500m, 4×100m relay, 100m hurdles, standing long jump, standing high jump), floor exercise, and soccer matches in formats of 2V2, 3V3, and 5V5, testing the robots' speed, coordination, and teamwork.
Performance competition showcases solo dance, group dance, martial arts, and "inspirational moments," highlighting the robots' real-time coordinated control of their entire bodies and group collaboration through innovative music and movement.
Scenario competition focuses on the robots' abilities in practical applications, encompassing industrial, hospital, and hotel settings. For instance, the industrial scenario requires robots to handle and sort materials; the hospital scenario tests drug sorting and repackaging; and the hotel scenario assesses reception and cleaning services.
Peripheral Events
Peripheral events include badminton, basketball, and table tennis, with later additions of free combat and group dance, enhancing the diversity and entertainment value of the robot competitions.
2. Opening Ceremony: A Fusion of Technology and Art
Tonight's opening ceremony will feature numerous robot art performances!
"Welcome to the World of Carbon-based Life" presents a vision of future human-robot coexistence through synchronized human and robot dancing, supported by technological advancements in dynamic balance, motion coordination, and rhythm perception.
"Wisdom and Harmony" merges traditional Chinese culture, such as opera and martial arts, with cutting-edge robot technology.
"Celestial Craftsmanship Neo-Fashion" seamlessly integrates technology and fashion, with robots and human models jointly presenting a fusion of national trends, intangible cultural heritage, and technological elements.
The opening ceremony also includes a breathtaking lighting ceremony. As countless beams of light converge on the "Wisdom Core" crystal device, a spark symbolizing the inheritance of digital energy ignites, emblematic of the harmonious fusion of robot and human wisdom.
