Lenovo Leads, Apple Follows, Huawei Sixth: Insights into China’s Online Laptop Market Share

Recently, the esteemed LUOTU Technology released a comprehensive tracking report detailing the online laptop retail market for the first half of 2026, spanning from January to June.

The following figure presents a ranking of leading brands, along with some representative models from each, based on data compiled by the agency.

Lenovo emerges as the leader with a significant 32.9% market share, closely trailed by Apple at 16.9%—a somewhat surprising second place. The list continues with ASUS, Mechrevo, HP, Huawei, Honor, Xiaomi, Dell, and Colorful.

The top 10 brands collectively command over 90% of the market share, indicating a highly concentrated market landscape. The top three brands alone account for 65% of the market, leaving just 35% (approximately one-third) for all other manufacturers. This highlights the intense focus on online purchases within this sector.

This online market scenario stands in stark contrast to the overall laptop market share rankings. The figure above illustrates the total computer sales in China for the first quarter, encompassing both desktops and laptops, across online and offline channels.

Here, Apple takes the lead, but Huawei is a close second, followed by another brand (assuming a correction to the original typo), Inspur (assuming a correction from a potential mistranslation or typo), and then HP among other brands.

In the online realm, Lenovo, Apple, and ASUS dominate the rankings. It's clear that Apple and ASUS have a strong online presence, while Huawei and Inspur (or the intended brand) perform better offline and show relatively weaker online performance compared to Apple.

Furthermore, online data reveals that Apple exhibits the highest growth rate at 8.9%, which is a key factor in its securing the second position. All the top five brands are experiencing growth, whereas the bottom five are seeing declines.

Of course, aside from Apple's slightly higher growth rate, the growth among other brands is minimal. Similarly, among the declining brands, Huawei faces a relatively larger decline at 4.6%, while other brands experience only slight drops.

It's important to note that the online market doesn't provide a complete picture, but it does offer valuable insights into some fundamental trends. Particularly in 2026, with the surge in storage chip prices, the cost structure of computers has undergone significant transformations. This will rigorously test brands' supply chain capabilities and their ability to command brand premiums, ultimately influencing sales. Supply chain competition is poised to become the focal point of brand competition.
