Recently, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, alongside eight other ministries including the Ministry of Transport, officially commenced the second batch of pilot projects aimed at the comprehensive electrification of vehicles in public areas, spanning the period from 2024 to 2026. The selected cities include Tianjin, Changzhou, Wuxi, Yibin, Linyi, Huainan, Xi'an, Xianyang, Weinan, and the Xiong'an New Area. These projects are designed to accelerate the electrification of public vehicles and foster technological and model innovations in new energy vehicles, thereby enhancing the adoption of these vehicles.

Each of the ten cities brings unique strengths and development focuses to the table. For instance, Tianjin capitalizes on the coordinated development of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region and port-specific demonstration applications, while Changzhou leverages its status as a "City of New Energy" and comprehensive industrial system. The pilot project, which runs from 2024 to 2026, encompasses various sectors such as official vehicles, taxis, urban buses, sanitation vehicles, postal and express delivery vehicles, urban logistics distribution vehicles, airport vehicles, and heavy-duty trucks tailored for specific scenarios. It is anticipated that over 250,000 new energy vehicles will be promoted, leading to fuel savings exceeding 1.4 million tons and carbon emissions reductions of more than 4.5 million tons annually. In terms of charging and swapping infrastructure, the plan envisages the construction of over 240,000 charging piles and 365 battery swapping stations. Furthermore, the pilot will catalyze the commercialization of new charging and swapping technologies and diversify V2G application scenarios.

The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, along with seven other ministries, including the Ministry of Transport, has initiated the second batch of pilot projects for the comprehensive electrification of vehicles in public areas across ten cities.
