BYD Unveils Super e-Platform: Megawatt Flash Charging Ushers in the Era of "Oil-Electric Parity"!

03/18 2025 511

On March 17, 2025, BYD held a press conference to introduce the groundbreaking Super e-Platform technology and commence pre-sales of the Han L and Tang L models. The event showcased the cutting-edge Super e-Platform, featuring flash charging batteries, 30,000 RPM motors, and a new generation of automotive-grade silicon carbide power chips. With a comprehensive upgrade of the core electric components, the platform achieves deep integration of electrification, setting new global benchmarks. Regarding charging speed, it boasts a charging power of 1 megawatt (1000kW), achieving the world's highest peak charging speed of 2 kilometers per second for mass-produced vehicles, offering a flash charge of 5 minutes for 400 kilometers of range—the fastest globally. In terms of performance, it reaches a single-module single-motor power of 580kW and a top speed exceeding 300km/h, establishing the world's most potent professional pure electric platform. This technology will debut on the groundbreaking flagship models Han L and Tang L, which are officially open for pre-sale from today, heralding the next era of electric vehicles.

As electric vehicle technology advances, "charging anxiety" remains a significant pain point affecting user experience. At the conference, BYD Group Chairman and President Wang Chuanfu stated, "To thoroughly address users' charging anxiety, our goal is to make electric vehicle charging times as short as fuel vehicle refueling times, achieving 'oil-electric parity' in charging speed."

Megawatt Flash Charging: A New Era of Oil-Electric Parity

Achieving "oil-electric parity" necessitates both ultra-high voltage and ultra-high current charging.

The Super e-Platform announced is the world's first mass-produced passenger car with a "Universal Kilovolt High-Voltage Architecture," elevating the battery, motor, power supply, air conditioning, and more to 1000V, ushering electric vehicles into the kilovolt era.

BYD also officially unveiled the "Flash Charging Battery," creating ultra-high-speed ion channels from the battery's positive to negative electrodes, reducing internal resistance by 50%, and achieving a charging current of 1000A and a charging rate of 10C—all global benchmarks.

Supported by 1000V ultra-high voltage and 1000A ultra-high current, the "Flash Charging Battery" achieves the world's largest mass-produced charging power of 1 megawatt (1000kW), officially entering the "megawatt era" of charging power.

Megawatt Flash Charging delivers the world's highest peak charging speed of "2 kilometers per second" for mass-produced vehicles, providing users with an unparalleled charging experience.

The Han L equipped with the Flash Charging Battery can achieve a 400-kilometer range with just 5 minutes of flash charging. Previously, refueling a fuel vehicle took 5-8 minutes; now, for the same driving range, charging an electric vehicle also takes 5-8 minutes, finally matching refueling times. Megawatt Flash Charging marks a new era of "oil-electric parity," transforming charging from "waiting for the car" to "the car waiting"!

World's First Mass-Produced 30,000 RPM Motor: Breaking Electric Vehicle Performance Limits

At the conference, BYD also introduced the world's first mass-produced 30,000 RPM motor. Luo Hongbin, BYD's Senior Vice President, stated, "The 30,000 RPM motor not only significantly boosts vehicle speed but also reduces motor weight, shrinks size, improves power density, redefines peak performance, and leads the electric drive system into the '3' era."

New Generation of Automotive-Grade Silicon Carbide Power Chips: Fully Self-Developed and Self-Produced Technology Chain

To complement ultra-high-power charging, BYD has independently developed and mass-produced a new generation of automotive-grade silicon carbide power chips. With a voltage rating of up to 1500V, this chip is the industry's first mass-produced automotive-grade silicon carbide power chip with the highest voltage rating.

Megawatt Flash Charging Terminals: Completing the Megawatt Charging Ecosystem

Megawatt flash charging places higher demands on charging infrastructure. Lian Yubo, BYD Group Executive Vice President and Dean of the Automotive Engineering Research Institute, said, "BYD has independently developed the world's first fully liquid-cooled megawatt flash charging terminal system with a maximum output capacity of 1360kW. We plan to establish over 4000 'megawatt flash charging stations' nationwide. Besides self-built stations, BYD's unique 'dual-gun charging' technology can convert ultra-fast charging piles into flash charging piles and fast charging piles into ultra-fast ones. Our globally pioneering 'intelligent boost' charging technology is fully compatible with public fast charging piles, enabling users to charge at any station."

Super e-Platform Debuts on Han L and Tang L: Officially Open for Pre-Sale

As the inaugural models equipped with BYD's Super e-Platform, the Han L and Tang L are now open for pre-sale with prices ranging from 270,000 to 350,000 yuan for the Han L EV and 280,000 to 360,000 yuan for the Tang L EV. Blind bookings for the Han L DM and Tang L DM have also commenced, with these models set to be the first equipped with the DM-p king hybrid technology. A revolutionary technology matrix powers revolutionary flagship models, with the Han L and Tang L officially launching in April.

With the launch of the Super e-Platform, BYD has once again evolved the core electric components of electric vehicles, creating the world's most potent professional pure electric platform, redefining electric travel, and leading the global trend in pure electric technology.
