No Blackening, No Fanning—Xiaomi Auto's Goal of Delivering 550,000 Vehicles This Year Is Easier Said Than Done

Recently, many emerging automakers released their October 2026 sales figures.

Overall, it's a mixed picture—some are celebrating, others are not. Leapmotor, still going strong, surpassed 100,000 vehicles, a true breakaway lead. Many automakers also saw year-on-year sales growth, while some performed poorly, with year-on-year drops of over 50%.

Among them, Xiaomi should be considered one of the better performers, as its October sales exceeded 50,000 vehicles—the second time Xiaomi has surpassed the 50,000 mark since last December.

If calculated at exactly 50,000, Xiaomi ranks third among the emerging automakers, since XPeng delivered 50,237 vehicles. But it is generally believed that Xiaomi actually did more than exactly 50,000—theoretically around 52,000 to 53,000—so in reality Xiaomi is very likely ranked second among the emerging automakers.

But to be honest, whether Xiaomi sold exactly 50,000 or 53,000, completing its annual target this year is actually easier said than done.

According to detailed data from institutions earlier, Xiaomi had already delivered 286,500 vehicles in the first nine months. Adding this 50,000, the total comes to 336,500 vehicles.

Xiaomi's target this year is 550,000 vehicles, and 336,500 is equivalent to only 61.2% completion.

To complete the target, Xiaomi still needs to sell 213,500 vehicles in the following two months—November and December. Do you think that is possible? That would mean selling more than 100,000 vehicles on average per month. Even if Xiaomi has that many orders, production capacity cannot keep up, so I say it is almost as difficult as reaching the sky.

To be optimistic, if Xiaomi averages 60,000 vehicles in November and December, then it would sell 120,000 vehicles in those two months, bringing the annual total to 456,500 vehicles—a completion rate of about 83%.

To be pessimistic, if November and December are the same as October—completing 50,000 vehicles each—Xiaomi would ultimately complete about 440,000 vehicles, a completion rate of 80%.

Of course, while saying Xiaomi cannot complete its task, we can also compare it with other emerging automakers. To be honest, none of the emerging automakers are very impressive this year, and probably very few will ultimately complete their annual targets.

The chart above shows data up to October. As can be seen, by October only three companies had exceeded 70% progress, and some automakers had not even reached 50%. Xiaomi is already considered one of the better performers.
