On the evening of June 26, Xiaomi Auto unveiled its first pure electric SUV, the YU7, officially entering the market. Positioned as a "mid-to-large-sized high-performance electric SUV," it is available in three trim levels: Standard, Pro, and Max, with prices ranging from 253,500 to 329,900 yuan.

YU7 Orders

Orders exceeded 200,000 within 3 minutes and nearly 300,000 within an hour, marking a new benchmark for the fastest order accumulation in the new energy vehicle industry. This figure far surpasses the 88,898 orders recorded in the first 24 hours of the SU7's launch, tripling the lead count of the SU7 during the same period.

YU7 Performance

01

Complete Domination

In terms of core performance, the YU7 comprehensively outstrips the Tesla Model Y.

In terms of range and charging, the single-motor rear-wheel-drive version offers a CLTC range of 835 kilometers, while the all-wheel-drive version exceeds 760 kilometers, a significant 150-kilometer advantage over the Tesla Model Y Long Range.

Equipped with an 800V high-voltage platform, it can add 425 kilometers of range in just 5 minutes of charging and reach 620 kilometers in 15 minutes, providing a charging efficiency three times faster than Tesla's V4 Supercharger.

YU7 Power Performance

Its power performance is equally impressive, with the all-wheel-drive Max version achieving a 0-100 km/h acceleration time of just 3.23 seconds, surpassing the Model Y Performance's 3.7 seconds. Through an intelligent torque distribution system, it can switch to rear-wheel-drive mode during high-speed cruising, reducing energy consumption by 22%.

Xiaomi YU7 further distinguishes itself with intelligent configurations, eliminating the traditional LE instrument cluster in favor of Xiaomi HyperVision panoramic display technology, which projects driving information through the edges of the windshield.

All trim levels come standard with LiDAR and are equipped with the NVIDIA Thor chip, providing 700 TOPS of computing power, supporting advanced city NOA driving assistance.

YU7 Interior

Moreover, the YU7 showcases family-oriented optimizations, such as a 3000mm wheelbase combined with a "sandwich" seat layout, allowing the second row to slide forward and backward by 280mm. The second row is equipped with a movable 6.68-inch control screen, enabling four-zone interaction and smart home integration.

The hidden door handles design addresses icing issues in northern winters, while the B-pillar millimeter-wave radar supports rapid response in temperatures as low as -30°C.

Disruptive Pricing Strategy

The final pricing of Xiaomi YU7 is more aggressive than market expectations.

Starting with the Standard version at 253,500 yuan, it is 10,000 yuan cheaper than the Model Y's starting price while offering a longer range and more advanced smart hardware.

The Pro version, priced at 299,800 yuan, includes dual-chamber air suspension, while the Max version, priced at 329,900 yuan, is equipped with 5.2C supercharging and Brembo calipers, posing a significant threat to competitors like the Lixiang L7 and Xpeng G9.

This pricing strategy embodies "field strategy competition," leveraging C-segment vehicle dimensions to compete in the B-segment market and comparing its all-wheel-drive performance against competitors' rear-wheel-drive models.

YU7 Pricing

Lei Jun previously denied rumors of a starting price of "199,900 yuan," emphasizing that "the cost of LiDAR and HyperVision far exceeded expectations." The final starting price of 253,500 yuan maintains a high-end tone while also providing an entry point for price-sensitive consumers.

03

Behind the Explosive Orders

The explosive growth of 200,000 orders in 3 minutes is attributed to three key factors.

First, the accumulation of technical trust, fueled by positive feedback from SU7 deliveries, particularly the authenticity of its 1,310-kilometer winter range. Second, precise user targeting, with all-wheel-drive orders accounting for 65%, indicating a significant overlap between performance enthusiasts and family users. Third, ecological synergy, with Xiaomi phone users expected to convert at a rate of over 40%, and the vehicle-home interconnection feature becoming a unique selling point.

The response in the scalper market further confirms this enthusiasm, with short-term rentals for undelivered models priced at 8,000 yuan per day, reminiscent of the initial frenzy during the SU7's launch.

Scalper Market Response

YU7 Challenges

Despite its explosive start, the YU7 still faces significant challenges.

Notably, there is pressure on production capacity, with the Wuhan factory having an annual capacity of only 300,000 units. If orders continue to grow, the delivery period may extend to over six months. Additionally, the technology needs to be validated, as the 5.2C supercharging relies on BYD's megawatt flash charging network, and insufficient infrastructure coverage may affect user experience.

More critically, there is the risk of public opinion. Controversies over safety hazards in third-party modifications persist, necessitating the strengthening of original equipment parts services.

Nonetheless, Xiaomi has already rewritten the Chinese new energy vehicle market landscape with impressive figures: 3 minutes, 200,000 orders, a starting price of 253,500 yuan, and a range of 835 kilometers.

YU7 Market Impact

While traditional automakers struggle with the "luxury premium" of 300,000-yuan SUVs, the YU7 brings million-yuan-level technology into the 250,000-yuan segment with its self-developed Ice Armor battery system, 800V architecture, and standard LiDAR across all trim levels.

Tesla's sales crown is now under real threat. Consumers are voting with their orders, as parameters and experience ultimately overshadow brand prestige.
