Following Xiaomi YU7's record-breaking 200,000 pre-orders in just three minutes, automotive industry leaders took to social media to express their disapproval towards Xiaomi.
On the morning of June 27, automotive blogger Zhu Yulong revealed that after a night of discussions in various automotive-related groups (covering vehicles, parts, and batteries), no one in the automotive circle had ever witnessed such astonishing figures—200,000 in three minutes or 289,000 in one hour—which are truly world-record breaking. We are continually being outpaced by the mobile phone industry's practices and the 'brand + traffic' strategy. This development trend is here to stay, and it defies traditional understanding.
In response, Huang Zhaokun, the head of electric drive and powertrain development at Dongfeng Nissan, retweeted Zhu's post and commented: "Xiaomi YU7's 200,000 pre-orders in three minutes suggest that customers will have to wait over a year for delivery. No nation boasts such blindly loyal brand fans." He further stated that this incident once again proves that "groups lower intellect" and that tactics employed by the mobile phone industry are adept at stirring up emotions.
Currently, Huang Zhaokun's Weibo post is no longer accessible.
On June 26, Xiaomi hosted its People-Car-Home Full Ecosystem Launch Event, officially unveiling Xiaomi YU7, Xiaomi MIX Flip 2, and Xiaomi AI Glasses.
Xiaomi YU7 is available in three configurations: the standard version priced at 253,500 yuan, the Pro version at 279,900 yuan, and the Max version at 329,900 yuan. Additionally, there is the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra with an optional professional track package priced at 629,900 yuan, and the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra Nurburgring Limited Edition priced at 814,900 yuan.
Both the YU7 standard and Pro versions come equipped with a 96.3 kWh lithium iron phosphate battery pack, offering CLTC driving ranges of 835 km and 770 km, respectively. The YU7 Max, on the other hand, features a 101.7 kWh ternary lithium battery pack with a CLTC driving range of 760 km.
It's worth noting that during yesterday's launch event, Lei Jun also announced Xiaomi's first batch of partners for its People-Car-Home Full Ecosystem, which include BYD, GAC Toyota, and Zhengzhou Nissan.
It's reported that Zhengzhou Nissan and Dongfeng Nissan operate within the same Nissan joint venture system in China but cater to different markets. Zhengzhou Nissan focuses on commercial/off-road vehicles, while Dongfeng Nissan specializes in household passenger vehicles. They are also led by distinct automakers—Dongfeng Motor and Nissan Motor, respectively.
