Starting at 1.59 Million? Aston Martin Officially Unveils New Model: On Sale from October 4th

On October 4th, Aston Martin introduced a new member to the DBX family—the brand-new DBX GT—at its Gaydon factory in the UK.

The figure of 1.59 million may be misconstrued by many. To clarify: this amount serves as a reference for the base price of the car in the UK market, excluding local VAT, and does not encompass various optional features. It should not be directly compared to the actual purchase price in China.

After accounting for importation and various taxes and fees, the estimated price range in China is projected to be between 2.5027 million and 3 million. Opting for a few customizations can easily push the price beyond 3 million.

Many might assume that a GT variant, with its emphasis on comfort, would see a reduction in power. However, the DBX GT defies this expectation.

The entire powertrain is borrowed directly from the DBX S, featuring a 4.0T twin-turbo V8 engine that delivers a maximum of 727 horsepower and a peak torque of 900 Nm. It accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.1 seconds and boasts a top speed of 310 km/h. Large carbon-ceramic brakes come as standard, with 420mm front and 390mm rear carbon-ceramic discs, offering exceptional resistance to heat decay during high-intensity braking and ensuring a stable brake feel even during spirited driving.

The engine hardware remains largely unchanged, with engineers focusing instead on refining the power output logic, chassis vibration filtering, overall vehicle sound insulation, and cabin experience. In simpler terms, the performance foundation is fully retained, but the aggressive nature has been toned down for a smoother and more manageable driving experience.

Visually, the DBX GT sheds the aggressive sport package of the DBX S. The front fascia showcases a DBX GT-exclusive dual-blade grille, available in both bright and dark finishes, with redesigned side ventilation openings. The front bumper, side skirts, and rear diffuser are all painted in the body color, eliminating the excessive use of exposed carbon fiber components and resulting in a more understated and elegant appearance.

It comes standard with 22-inch fluid-forged wheels and factory-fitted Pirelli all-season tires, prioritizing tire noise suppression and filtering out fine road vibrations. If the budget allows, you can upgrade to 23-inch wheels. The rear dual-exit exhaust features a dual-layer process with a specially-tuned sound.

In GT cruise mode, noise is suppressed to maintain a quiet cabin. Switching to Sport or Sport+ modes unleashes the deep V8 sound, without completely eliminating it.

While the exterior changes may not seem drastic, the major upgrades are concealed within the interior and chassis.

Seats are a top priority for this upgrade, with both the front and rear rows receiving ergonomic redesigns. The seat cushions are thickened by 10mm with memory foam, and the side contours have been readjusted to provide sufficient lateral support during cornering while ensuring long-term comfort.

Each front seat features nearly 700 meters of stitching, over three thousand perforations, and headrests with DBX GT-exclusive embroidery, with many processes completed by hand.

The interior extensively utilizes semi-aniline leather, with plush carpets as standard. The driving mode dial and surrounding buttons are all made of anodized metal, providing a delicate touch. The interior offers single-color, dual-color, and tri-color GT-exclusive color schemes, with a panoramic sunroof as standard.

The rear can also opt for a 4+1 independent seat layout, with independent seats on both sides featuring raised headrests and enhanced side support, while retaining an emergency fifth seat in the middle. This setup balances luxury reception and daily five-seat use, fully preserving the rear space provided by the 3060mm wheelbase.

The chassis hardware foundation remains equipped with a three-chamber air suspension, Damptronic Sky adaptive damping, and a 48V active anti-roll system capable of outputting 1400Nm of torque. The chassis lift function is fully retained, allowing the body to be raised by up to 45mm and lowered by up to 50mm. The comfort entry mode is also preserved.

The damper valve system has been exclusively re-tuned for the GT version, no longer solely pursuing rigid support but focusing on optimizing high-frequency vibrations caused by speed bumps and uneven road surfaces. Two additional longitudinal dampers are added to the rear subframe, and the transmission mount bushings are synchronized optimized to reduce vibrations transmitted from the powertrain to the cabin.

The throttle pedal travel and output response curve have also been re-tuned, preventing sudden surges when pressed, making city driving more relaxed.

Significant effort has been invested in sound insulation engineering, with additional sound-absorbing materials added to the door cavities, wheel arch liners, and trunk areas. The rear side windows feature acoustic laminated glass. The suppression of wind and road noise during highway cruising is evident, providing a tangible improvement in cabin tranquility during long-distance drives.

Within the DBX family, the product lineup is now clearly defined. The DBX S targets drivers who enjoy spirited driving, with more sensitive steering, sharp chassis feedback, and options for a carbon fiber roof and magnesium alloy lightweight wheels. The transmission shifts are crisp, making it more suitable for customers who enjoy mountain driving and seek control.

On the other hand, the DBX GT targets a different group: those who possess the hardcore power of a 727-horsepower V8 but primarily use the vehicle for city commuting and long-distance travel. They do not want to be constantly bothered by a taut sport chassis and prioritize cabin quietness and a relaxed seating experience.

Aston Martin CEO Adrian Hallmark put it bluntly: the GT version is designed for users who prefer elegance and composure and reject aggressiveness. Without compromising performance, it elevates the luxury and comfort experience of the DBX series to a new level.

With this, all three DBX product lines are now in place: the DBX GT focuses on luxury and comfort, the DBX S on hardcore sporty handling, and the DBX707 as the flagship performance version of the family. This comprehensive lineup is clearly aimed at competitors such as the Ferrari Purosangue and Lamborghini Urus. Instead of relying on a single performance version to compete alone, it uses differentiated positioning to cater to different preferences of ultra-luxury SUV buyers.

Global deliveries are scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2026. The official pricing in China has not yet been announced, so further updates on the market launch can be awaited.
