In Japan, a global anime powerhouse, a subtle yet significant transformation is underway.
This year, in April, Japan's first predominantly AI-produced anime, "Twins Hinahima," made its debut, garnering significant attention. In this anime, AI programs handled approximately 95% of the workload, including intricate details like hair flow and the painstaking work between frames. AI support not only vastly enhanced animation production efficiency but also brought anime to life with detailed portrayals.
Concurrently, a trend of AI-generated images and videos mimicking the Ghibli style has captivated the attention and adoption of anime professionals worldwide. AI has propelled the animation industry into a "technological revolution," with Japanese animation creators readily embracing AI tools.
Amidst the global content creation surge into the AI-driven era, Shengshu Technology, a global leader in multimodal generation, is rapidly gaining global recognition with its flagship product, Vidu.
Currently, Vidu spans over 200 countries and regions, earning the favor of over 25 million users. In Japan, a significant anime hub, Vidu has emerged as a prominent AI content creation platform utilized by both local creators and corporate users.
Recently, Vidu hosted a global creator offline meetup, the Tokyo station event, at Meijirin University in Tokyo. This event gathered numerous international heavyweights alongside Japanese AI entrepreneurs, investors, directors, media professionals, AI bloggers, artists, and developers for in-depth discussions on the "boundaries and potential of AI video creation," envisioning a future blueprint for the global content ecosystem.

Notably, the latest model showcased by the Vidu team at the conference, Vidu Q1, recently topped the global technology evaluation list VBench, particularly excelling in the anime field, evoking strong reactions within the Japanese creation circle. Some users even commented, "Why hasn't such an AI content innovation company emerged in Japan yet?" Industry insiders attribute Vidu's rapid conquest of the Japanese market to its unique advantages across three dimensions.
As a major anime nation, Japan's content industry is renowned for its highly creative expressions but has long grappled with challenges such as prolonged production cycles, high labor costs, and difficulties in bringing creative ideas to fruition. Vidu offers a revolutionary solution tailored to these industry pain points.
On the Vidu platform, creators can leverage four primary AI capabilities: text-to-video, image-to-video, reference image-to-video, and text-to-audio. Coupled with features like subject libraries, scene settings, and special effects templates, creators can achieve "instant creation" from inspiration capture to content delivery. This model transforms "labor-intensive work" into "imagination-driven creation," redefining the production logic of the anime industry.
"We used to spend weeks refining a character concept, but now we can generate multiple anime-style options with Vidu in just a few minutes," said an anime director present at the event. "This not only enhances efficiency but also gives creators more time to focus on the story's core."
The meticulousness, restraint, and pursuit of perfection embodied in the Japanese national character are particularly evident in content creation. Vidu's reference video generation, first and last frame functions, etc., precisely cater to the dual demands for "precision" and "freedom" in this cultural context.
At the WaytoAGI Summit, foreign creators shared their experiences using Vidu to produce anime videos.
For instance, with the support of the Vidu Q1 model, creators need only upload two images and add a brief description to generate high-quality video clips with natural transitions, coherent scenes, and a unified style. This seamless connectivity, previously achievable only by professional post-production special effects teams, is now readily accessible to individual users.
Moreover, the new AI audio effect generation function extends the creative dimension to the soundscape - users can input text to generate 48kHz high-fidelity audio effects, encompassing background music, ambient sounds, and complex audio track combinations. Without an audio professional background, users can create a movie-level auditory experience.
In early 2025, individual animation creator "Roushu Effects" utilized Vidu to produce the serialized Japanese-style anime series "Observer Paradox," which garnered a significant fan base upon release. Currently, the total online playback volume has surpassed 3 million. Fans eagerly await new episodes every week on Roushu Effects' social media accounts, fostering a unique anime-following culture.
"Observer Paradox" not only lacks any "AI flavor" but has also been praised by fans for reaching the level of top-tier Japanese anime series, with thrilling plots and exquisite visuals that are irresistible.
Using AI-generated videos to create anime to gain fans and commercialize it is not just the mainstream for domestic creators. With the explosion of short videos, anime, virtual characters, and other content forms, the "one-person studio" model is rapidly gaining popularity in Japan, becoming the primary approach for a new generation of content entrepreneurs. And Vidu, the global leader in anime generation, is the technological bedrock of this trend.
In the Vidu 2.0 version, video materials can be generated within 10 seconds without the need for complex software or multi-member collaboration, significantly lowering the threshold for content creation. Based on personal interests, textual inspirations, or image materials, creators can instantly create video clips with diverse styles and rich emotions, whether it's secondary creation content, original IP development, game storylines, or virtual character interactions, all of which can be completed by one person from start to finish.
A Tokyo college student attending the event said, "Vidu allows me to create clips like an animation studio all by myself, and now I'm even considering using it as part of my graduation project."
Today, Vidu is not only a representative innovative enterprise of China's leading multimodal technology but also a symbol of the liberation of content creators' creativity. To date, Vidu has established multiple AI local artist communities in Japan, and its B-end business has penetrated various Japanese industries, including interactive entertainment, advertising and marketing, anime, film and television, culture, and tourism. Collaborating with the local anime platform PocketAnime, it jointly launched the "Global AI Anime Creation Contest," receiving numerous favorable comments from Japanese users.
As AI multimodal generation technology continues to evolve, the video generation industry in Japan is no longer confronted with the question of "whether to embrace AI" but rather "how to use AI to reconstruct the boundaries of imagination." And Vidu may just be the key to unlocking this door of imagination.
