Another Apple Imitator Surfaces: Lenovo Unveils New Ultra-Thin Phone with a Strikingly Similar Name!

When it comes to the development trajectory of the entire Android phone (camp) in the near future, recent online leaks offer a glimpse into what we can expect: a clear alignment with Apple. This trend of emulation isn't confined to a single dimension; rather, it spans both internal and external compatibility, as well as design imitation. System-level compatibility with Apple's ecosystem has reached unprecedented levels among various manufacturers, while the external design similarities are immediately noticeable, making them self-evident. Even Samsung has begun to show signs of following this trend, and it's only a matter of time before other manufacturers jump on the bandwagon.

Just today, Lenovo officially unveiled its upcoming new phone, the Moto X70 Air, slated for release at the end of October. This device exudes an Apple-esque aura in every aspect, from the 'Air' suffix in its name to the inclusion of the number '7.' While Lenovo may insist that the name is purely coincidental and was planned well in advance, few are likely to buy this explanation. It's more plausible that Lenovo is aiming to go head-to-head with the iPhone Air, though its success in doing so remains to be seen.

There's no need to delve deeply into the promotional poster. The image of pinching the phone between two fingers simply highlights the ultra-thinness of the Moto X70 Air, mirroring Apple's marketing style for the iPhone Air. Even the specific part of the phone being pinched is similar. Lenovo is likely fully aware of this resemblance and may soon openly acknowledge its intention to compete with the iPhone Air, though matching its features and specifications could prove to be a daunting task. Firstly, in terms of chips, the Moto X70 Air would need to utilize the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 to compete with the A19 Pro, which seems highly unlikely.

Based on the leaked information, the Moto X70 Air doesn't appear on the list of upcoming Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 models set to be released at the end of October. Therefore, the chances of it using the latest chip are almost nil, and even the possibility of it using the Snapdragon 8 Elite is slim. Some speculate that this phone might be an ultra-thin variant of the Edge 60's successor. If this line of reasoning holds, then the use of a MediaTek Dimensity 8-series chip seems more plausible.

In terms of imaging capabilities, the promotional images suggest a dual rear camera setup, though it's unclear whether it will feature a large camera matrix or a smaller module. If it's the former, then the Moto X70 Air's imitation of the new iPhone is truly subtle and difficult to articulate. As for its thinness, it's unlikely to match the iPhone Air's 5.6mm, with a personal estimate ranging between 6mm-6.5mm and a battery capacity of around 5000mAh.

Regarding Lenovo's mention of AI, it likely refers to AI capabilities integrated at the system level. This is an area that all manufacturers are actively exploring, so it remains to be seen what unique approach Lenovo will take. Personally, I speculate that all manufacturers have prepared ultra-thin models but have not yet announced them, possibly waiting for the iPhone Air's official release.

There's little doubt that the trend of 'Apple-like' designs will dominate the entire phone (camp) in the coming period.
