Hurun Rich List Released: AI Starts Creating Wealth - 1 in Every 10 Billionaires Owes Their Fortune to AI

Recently, the Hurun Research Institute released the Hurun Rich List.

This year, a total of 1,529 billionaires have fortunes exceeding 5 billion yuan, an increase of 95 from last year, setting a new record. The combined wealth of these 1,529 billionaires reached 32 trillion yuan, up by 7%.

Although many claim the current situation is unfavorable, it appears that only applies to some. The wealthy are doing quite well, with their numbers and fortunes continuing to grow.

However, this year's Hurun Rich List reveals a particularly interesting phenomenon: AI has become a mythical wealth creator. Among the 1,529 individuals, over 160 billionaires are closely tied to AI, meaning roughly 1 in every 10 people, exceeding 10% for the first time in history. This signifies AI's transition from a 'trend' to a 'staple.'

Let's examine the top 10 billionaires: Zhang Yiming, Zhong Shanshan, Zeng Yuqun, Ma Huateng, He Xiangjian, Chen Jianhua, Liang Wenfeng, Ding Lei, Li Ka-shing, and Chen Tianshi.

Among these top 10, four are related to AI, with three being strongly connected.

Take Zhang Yiming, the founder of ByteDance, for example. His 670 billion yuan fortune is attributed to AI. According to Hurun, ByteDance's progress in AI has driven its valuation to 3.2 trillion yuan, contributing to Zhang's wealth.

Ma Huateng, ranked fourth, also has some connection to AI. Tencent has products like Hunyuan and WorkBuddy and is actively developing AI.

Liang Wenfeng, ranked seventh, made the list primarily due to Deepseek, an AI large model.

Chen Tianshi, ranked tenth, benefited from the revaluation of Cambrian in the AI era, enabling his inclusion on the list.

Looking further down, even more individuals made the list due to AI. Among the top 100, 25 billionaires have businesses related to AI. However, most of these individuals share a common trait: they operate within the AI supply chain.

After all, AI requires chips and infrastructure. Therefore, AI infrastructure investments first flow into hardware. There are numerous domestic companies involved in hardware, including those producing GPUs, longevity PCB boards (assuming this refers to a specific type of PCB), optical modules, and assembly services.

Additionally, downstream AI applications, such as robotics, have also contributed to many individuals making the list.

In the past, the Hurun List was dominated by real estate tycoons, then shifted to internet entrepreneurs, and later to tech leaders. This year, it can be considered the AI List. If you believe AI is here to stay, the number of billionaires making the list through AI will only continue to grow in the future.
